About the Artist

Jolene is a Louisiana based fine artist specializing in traditional realism. She works mainly in oils and watercolors, reveling in the joys and challenges of traditional mediums and techniques.

She has dabbled in art for most of her life, inspired at an early age by her painter grandmother.

When the world shut down for the Covid-19 pandemic, Jolene took the chance to throw herself into her art and has been in the studio every day since.

Self taught for most of her life, she began to take classes at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts after moving to Louisiana. The Academy’s focus on the classical tradition in visual arts catapulted her drawing and painting abilities to a new level.

Jolene continues to work and learn everyday, taking her inspiration from the 19th century academic traditions, the Golden Age illustrators, and contemporary realist painters
